Level - This weekend is one step down from a normal weekend at Garth Newydd for people who don't quite feel ready to spend a whole weekend in Welsh.
Are you learning Welsh at Mynediad, Sylfaen or equivalent level? Do you feel almost ready to take the next step and use more Welsh in real conversations? This weekend at Garth Newydd is designed especially for you.
Over two days, you’ll join a warm and supportive group of learners to practise speaking Welsh in a natural way—through fun activities, conversations, and shared experiences indoors and outdoors. We’ll explore the language together in a safe, pressure-free environment where making mistakes is part of the journey, and every attempt counts.
You’ll discover what it really feels like to live in Welsh: chatting over meals, joining in games, enjoying simple walks, and taking part in creative activities that bring the language to life. The aim is not perfection—far from it. You’re not expected to speak 100% Welsh for the whole weekend. Instead, this is about gaining confidence, trying new things, and seeing how much you can say when surrounded by encouragement and kindness.
At Garth Newydd, you’ll find the ideal space to stretch yourself gently, grow your confidence, and feel part of the wider Welsh-speaking community. By the end of the weekend, you’ll leave not only with new words and phrases but also with the feeling that Welsh really can become part of your everyday life.
The weekend starts at 5pm Friday and Ends 1pm Sunday

This week will be led by Welsh tutor Virginia Steinkamp, Virginia has ten years' experience as a Welsh tutor and will guide you through this relaxed week. Virginia is a patient tutor who gives the space and the time to develop language skills, discuss doubts and get ready to speak with others.
The cost of the weekend is £175 with a £75 deposit securing your place.

As a small organisation, last-minute cancellations have a significant impact on us.
Your £75 deposit is refundable only if you cancel at least 14 days before the weekend. After that point, deposits cannot be refunded or transferred to another event, as it is rarely possible to fill places at short notice.
